In the film "What's eating Gilbert Grape" there were many parts that showed both shame and loyalty. Seeing Gilbert could not get away from his family he wanted to leave and wanted a big change.
Scenes of Shame:
1. one scene that shows a bit of shame was when his mentally challenged brother climbed the water tower and seeing that it happened a lot he couldn't help but feel irresponsible for not taking care of his brother.
2. Another scene is when Gilbert hits his brother and runs away as if he wasn't going to come back just like his brother leaving the place. When he made up his mind to come back he was too ashamed to show his face to his family.
3. Another is when they take their mother to go pick up Gilbert's brother and everyone was looking at the family's mother and seeing how overweight she was the whole family was ashamed and even the mother was of herself
Scene of Loyalty
1. One scene of loyalty is where Gilbert is always there for his brother through everything and make sure no one does anything to him.
2. Gilbert never goes to Food Land and promises to stay loyal to the store he works at.
