American History X, Family and lighting

American History X showed a example of family, The movie talks about two brothers and the older brother being a fatherly figure towards the family ever since their father died. But the older brother joins the Neo-Nazi movement and goes to jail for murdering black gang members. The younger brother follows his older brothers footsteps and joins the Neo-Nazi. But as his older brother gets out of jail he tries to get his brother out of the neo-nazi movement and showing what the wrongs are in the group he's in. The lighting in the movie was mostly shpown in black and white showing the past and how the older brother joined the movement and went to jail. It's until then that it goes to color and the lighting then became darker and had a noise effect to show some confusion on what's going on.
