What's Eating Gilbert Grape: Shame and Loyalty

Shame: When "Mama" went outside her house after 7 years to get her son Ernie out of prison; then people outside the prison, such as kids, laugh and stare at her.

Shame: The fact that the kids didn't like playing with their dad XD Or, the fact that the lady wanted to cheat on her husband with Gilbert (she was ashamed of her husband)

Shame: Gilbert burned down the house his dead mother was in so she wouldn't have to be removed with a crane, which was the only way to remove her so she wouldn't be a "joke."

Shame: When Gilbert bought a cake at the supermarket and departing, his boss was outside, disappointed.

Loyalty: The fact that Gilbert was the man of the house; he worked overtime; he took his brother to work with him, he promised not to "hurt his mother anymore," etc.

Loyalty: Gilbert would, time after time, get Ernie down from the water tower; when the kids would make fun of him for doing that, Gilbert told them not to touch him.

Loyalty: Gilbert took his brother with him across the country, instead of sticking him with his sisters.
