1. In the first scene the dad comes home drunk. It is very late and dark while he's going up the stairs, but the light from the moon came in through the windows to light up the scene. The second scene was when they had to pick up the coal from the ground, off the road. It was real cloudy and gray. The last scene was at the end, outside their home when they were watching the eclipse it was real dark and bright while he was reflecting his life.
2. There was rain, and was very cloudy and gray throughout the film, giving the feeling of pain and sorrow within the scenes.
